Research Interests

Over the past nine years, research on the tectonic controls of the stratigraphic and structural geology of orogenic zones, especially the Appalachian Mountains, has been applied to a variety of geological and archaeological studies. LaPorta and Associates has employed me as an on-site investigator conducting tectonic stratigraphy to categorize the stratigraphic and tectonic controls imparted on potential prehistoric raw materials, as classified in the LaPorta Prehistoric Quarry ModelTM . In recent years, I have become acquainted with many issues concerning chert diagenesis and its role as a provenance indicator, and this has led to more recent investigations in lithic and raw material analysis, source analysis and prehistoric quarry technology.
